Overseer Jo Anna Fitzgerald was born and reared in Cleveland, North Carolina. She earned a Bachelor of Social Work from Livingstone College in 1983. Her Master of Social Work was received from Ohio State University in 1984 after earning a $13,000.00 fellowship. She was the first African-American to earn that degree from Ohio State in one year. Employed by Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services for about ten years, she resigned into full-time ministry in September of 1995.
Overseer Fitzgerald was a member of Holiness Church of Christ, Deliverance Center for about forty years. She served on the national Elders' Board and was pastor of the North Carolina ministry for about fifteen years. In the latter part of 2005 she announced that the Lord was leading her to start her own ministry. Victorious House of God was established in January 2006 with the entire North Carolina congregation following.
Overseer Fitzgerald has a testimony of surviving childhood abuse, an ungodly marriage, and single parenting. She has penned her autobiography, Through The Water and The Fire. It has been a blessing to many. Her heart's desire is to walk close to God and love her fellow man.
She is the mother of four adult children and has six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She serves as a spiritual mother to many.
