Golden Apples (Proverbs 25:11)
Give Birth Right Where You Are
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke 2:1-7)
Referring back to Luke 1, God had sent an angel to inform Mary that, even though she was a virgin, she would give birth to a son. The Holy Spirit would overshadow her and she would become pregnant. Her son would be the Savior of the world.
Of course, Mary was impregnated just as God had spoken. Yet, when the time came to give birth she found herself in an inconvenient, uncomfortable situation. Because there was no room in the inn, Joseph and she had to lodge in an animal stable. There is where our Savior was born. Those who have experienced childbirth know that this had to be most unpleasant. Giving birth calls for as much comfort as possible. However, when it is time to give birth, then it is time to give birth. Mary did not make any excuses. She brought forth in spite of her circumstances.
Many of us have received promises or commands from God that require us to produce. However, when we look at our present circumstances (especially the recession) it looks as if it can not be done. We are in an inconvenient, uncomfortable place. Our resources are not available or are not as plentiful. Yet, we have to remain focused on the Source. God's promises and commands have to be carried out. We have no excuse. God saw this time coming although we did not. He will provide for us. He will supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory as His word says in Philippians 4:19. Do not hesitate nor succumb to discouragement. Ask God for wisdom and guidance. Go forth and give birth right where you are.
